The book monograph deals with one of the oldest examples of paraliturgic and exorcist literature in the Slavic world – the Old Church Slavonic Prayer Against the Devil. It includes a revised and extended long analytic study by V. Konzal, a critical edition of the prayer, its Czech translation, an index verborum, a list of the saints mentioned in the prayer. The book also contains other supplementary material – illustrations, name and place index, and an edition of the text of the Latin prayer Oratio sancti Gregorii papae. The book will become, thanks to its innovative nature, an important contribution to the research of Old Church Slavonic paraliturgic texts, as well as the broader medieval studies. The Czech translation makes the monument accessible to the general public, too.
