The study starts with a brief observation of the Old Church Slavonic Dictionary (1958 – 1997), the main project of the Czech Paleoslavistic Studies after World War II, proccessing of which has influenced the Czech diachronic Slavistics till present. The formation of the Paleoslavistics and Byzantology Department at the restored Institute of Slavonic Studies and its human resources since 1989 till present are also described. The second part of the study provides an overview of the research of the Old Church Slavonic manuscripts and literary texts in following spheres: Old Church Slavonic lexicography and lexicology, publishing of editions of Old Slavic manuscript texts and their textological analysis, history of Slavic writings in Great Moravia and afterwards in Bohemia, matters of techniques used in translating from Greek and Latin to Old Church Slavonic.
