Cyril a Metoděj mezi Konstantinopolí a Římem

The publication describes the background and development of the Cyril and Methodius´mission to Great Moravia and the environment of the Byzantine Empire, where the brothers came from. Except for that the author explains that the success of the mission depended on the fight of the Moravian rulers for independence on the Frankish Empire. These events are set into wider historical frame of the controversy of Constantinople and Rome on the church jurisdiction over Bulgaria. Besides describing lives of both brothers the author emphasizes uniqueness of their cultural achievements, in particular creating Slavic liturgy and introduction of the Slavic language into liturgy.
